The Andros to Paros ferry is one of the classic Cyclades crossings, linking two islands with very different characters. Andros, the northernmost of the group, is greener and quieter than most of its neighbours; Paros sits at the heart of the archipelago and draws visitors in serious numbers. The ferry connects them directly, and during the season it runs daily. Our Andros port guide has the details on getting to and from Gavrio before you travel.
Service runs from April through to the end of October, with no winter sailings on this route. At the height of summer you can expect around 4 departures per day, while the shoulder months of April and October typically see just 1 or 2 sailings daily. Plan accordingly if you are travelling outside the peak period.

Tips for the Andros–Paros Ferry
- Gavrio port is not Andros Town – Chora lies around 32km away on the opposite coast, roughly a 50-minute drive. If you're heading there, check KTEL bus times or arrange a taxi rather than assuming a short hop.
- A KTEL Andros bus meets arriving ferries at Gavrio and runs on to Batsi, Chora and Korthi, but departures from the port can run about 15 minutes late whenever the ferry itself is delayed.
- If you are travelling with a car, check in at Gavrio at least an hour before your sailing – vehicle queues build well before departure, and boarding for cars closes earlier than for foot passengers.
- Sunglasses are essential on open deck in the Aegean – the reflected glare off the water is very intense, especially in the middle of the day.
- In Paros, the charming fishing village of Naoussa on the north coast is the best place to eat fresh seafood at family-run waterfront tavernas. The main town of Parikia has an impressive Byzantine cathedral built from the marble of ancient temples, and the island's beaches – particularly Kolymbithres with its sculpted granite rocks – are among the most striking in the Cyclades.

Can you rent a car in Paros?
Yes, and rental desks cluster right by the port in Parikia, most just a couple of minutes' walk from where the ferry docks. A car earns its keep here: nowhere on Paros is more than about 30 minutes' drive away, opening up marble-quarry villages and quieter southern beaches that the KTEL bus network doesn't reach directly. Compare local suppliers at Discover Cars if you'd rather not rely on the bus timetable.
Do you need a car in Andros?
Practically, yes. The ferry lands at Gavrio in the northwest, while the capital Chora sits around 32km away on the opposite coast, too far for casual bus-hopping between villages. Rental offices operate near the port, and supply tightens in August, so book ahead. Compare suppliers at Discover Cars.
